8/23/20 Family Meeting Recap
Dear CPC Family,
Sunday August 23rd we held a family meeting to discuss what life at CPC will be like heading into the fall. Below is a recap of what was discussed. Please reach out if you have any additional thoughts or questions.
In Person Worship
Starting in September we will no longer be using an RSVP system for our Sunday morning worship service. We have been meeting in person since June and over that time we have been working to make as much space as possible in our sanctuary to allow for social distancing while upgrading some of our technology to be able to continue live-streaming our service for those who still choose to join us for worship online.
We believe that we now have enough room to accommodate all of our church family who would like to attend in person as well as the normal amount of visitors that we usually have in a service.
We will continue to monitor the amount of people who are attending in person worship to ensure we have enough space for proper distancing as well as requiring everyone age 5 and older to wear a mask when they are inside the building.
There are a few other important details that coincide with this next step:
Service Opportunities
Greeters - Greeters will welcome our church family and visitors with a warm smile, point people to where they can pick up a mask if they forgot to bring one with them, and help people find seating that is appropriately social distanced from others.
Technology Team - The tech team will man the projector slides during worship. There is a very easy job that does not require that you “good with computers”
Scripture Reading - Read the Old and New Testament Scriptures prior to the sermon
If you would like to serve in any of these way please use this form to sign up
Beginning in September will resume celebrating the Lord’s Supper on Sunday mornings.
Since our service will officially be public (no RSVP required) we will resume our practice of weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper. We will serve communion in pre packaged, factory sealed servings and will have one row at a time come forward when the elements are distributed.
Due to audio/visual restraints the observance of the Lord’s Supper will not be part of the live stream which we will conclude after the song of response which follows the sermon.
Childcare
While we are still unable to provide to child care during the service at this time we are going to make a children’s play room and changing table available during worship which will be equipped with a monitor playing the live stream of the service. Feel free to take your child here or outdoors to the playground, if they need to be able to move around and get their wiggles out during the service.
Fall discipleship
Adults
As a church we will be reading the book A Praying Life by Paul Miller. This is the best book on prayer I have ever read and I know it will be fruitful for our church.
We will be holding a weekly community group at the church based on the book that will alternate between men and women. For example the women could meet the 1st and 3rd week of the month and the men the 2nd and 4th.
This will allow us to keep our group small enough to maintain proper social distancing and also allow for parents of young children to each be able to participate since we will not be offering child care.
Click here to order your copy of the book and sign up for a group.
Children
At this time we are not able to provide a children’s discipleship meeting. However, discipling our kids is a vital work of our church. We will be providing an at home discipleship plan that will provide resources for parents to take their children through at home.
We will have more details about these discipleship initiatives in the coming weeks.
I thank God for what is he doing in and through our church family and I am looking forward to how He will work in our lives this coming fall. I am praying for all of you. Please feel free to contact me if you need anything or would like to have further discussion on anything that has been outlined above.
In Christ,
Pastor Mike
