5/3/20 Family Meeting Recap

Dear CPC Family,

This past Sunday after worship we held a family meeting to check in with one another and to discuss what life will be like at CPC in the coming weeks and months ahead.

It is such a gift from our Heavenly Father to have a spiritual family in this difficult time of uncertainty and social distancing. Hearing how the Lord has been at work in your life has been such an encouragement to me. The Lord is building our hope and trust in Him even as he is doing the difficult work of removing our idols and turning our hearts towards Himself.

The following is a recap of what we discussed. If you have any additional thoughts or questions please reach out to me.

Out reach and Summer Kids Club

We talked about the importance of remaining focused on the mission of the church “to proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

We want to continue to invite people to join us online by sharing our worship livestream on social media, participating in virtual prayer meetings, and continuing to develop digital content that will be a blessing to our church community and to those we desire to serve and minister to.

Our summer kids club is a highlight of our church year. Our kids club will not be happening as previously scheduled June 22-26 this year but we are going to reinvent our kids club so that we can still minister to our children and those in the community while at the same time keeping everyone safe and healthy.

We need everyone’s gifts, abilities, and ideas to make this happen. If you are willing to help us figure out Kids Club this year please let us know. In the next couple of weeks we will be putting together a team to make this happen!

Community

We are going to continue our online prayer times via Facebook Live and Zoom as well as starting new virtual community groups. These groups are essential for a number of reasons. The first being that in this time of isolation it is critical that we stay connected and help one another grow in our faith. It is also highly likely that the church will operate in small group settings much more regularly going forward. If we can begin this rhythm now it will lay the ground work for our church to continue to minister to one another and our community in the future.

I would love for everyone who considers our church “home” to be involved in a group.

We will also be holding membership classes online so that those who would like to become members of CPC Wallingford will be able to. If you are not a member please take this time to consider if God is calling you to join His church in this special way.

Resuming in person gathering.

We have not yet made any decision about resuming in person gathering. However, we are praying and planning that it may happen sooner rather than later. As we continue to make plans there are a number of factors that are being taken into consideration:

  1. Our calling to be faithful to Christ

  2. The recommendations of public health officials

  3. Love for one another and our neighbors

Once we receive more guidance from the state of CT we will  send out further communication about how we will proceed. We are going to make our best effort to continue our live stream until everyone is comfortable resuming gathering in person for worship.

I am so thankful for all of you and am longing to be with you in person again. Please know that I am praying for you and am here for you and your family should you need anything. Let’s keep trusting our sovereign Lord as He leads and works in our lives for His glory and our good.

Affectionately,

Mike
