Help Us Make a Permanent Home for the Sake of the Gospel!
Throughout the Scriptures God has sent his people into particular places to be a blessing and to bear witness to His grace and goodness. God placed Adam and Eve in a garden and commissioned them to cultivate it. When He sent his people into exile He commanded them to “seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” Jesus himself came to earth to dwell among his people.
Since the very first time the core of our church plant met, we committed to be a church that loves our particular place. We know from the Bible that love takes both commitment and sacrifice. We began our journey by renting the gymnasium at the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club that required heroic commitment from our volunteers for set up and tear down each week while simultaneously leasing office space in town. As those spaces became harder to do ministry in and just as the COVID-19 pandemic began God provided us with the opportunity to rent a historic church in the middle of the Wallingford Town Center. As we have met for worship in this building, we have seen our church grow and our connection to our community and neighbors continue to increase.
This is a critical time in our church’s history, with an exciting opportunity before us. The church that we rent our building from informed us that at the end of our lease on August 31st they intended to put the building we rent, valued at $750,000, up for sale.
But here is the shocking part - they followed up this announcement by asking if we would like to purchase the building at a 90% discount, $75,000.
While this is still a lot of money for a church like ours we knew that opportunities like this don’t happen often and that if the Lord was leading us he would provide the resources to purchase the building. After a season of prayer by our leadership team and congregation we decided that we needed to step out in faith and move forward with the purchase! We know that it is going to take sacrifice by our congregation and generosity from people like you that have partnered with us to start this church.
We need to raise $125,000. It will take $75,000 to purchase the building and $50,000 to make some minor updates and repairs that an old church building requires.
Will you help us put roots down in our particular place by making a pledge to our building fund? Having a permanent spot in the center of our town will allow us to communicate God’s love, minister in his name, and proclaim the good news of the Gospel for years to come!
